You’ve installed LinkAce — now what? This guide walks you through adding your first link, understanding the dashboard, and exploring key features.
Your Dashboard
After logging in, you’ll land on the dashboard. It’s divided into three main areas:
Quick Add (top left)
Paste a URL and click “Add Quick” to save a link with default settings. LinkAce automatically generates the title and description for web links. You can edit details later.
Quick Search (top right)
Search across link titles, URLs, and descriptions. Results open on the advanced search page where you can refine filters.
Recent Links (left column)
The five most recently saved links appear here for quick access.
Statistics (right column)
View counts for links, lists, tags, notes, and broken links. Click the “broken links” badge to filter and fix unavailable links.
Recent Lists and Tags (bottom)
See your most recently created lists and tags. Click any to view associated links.
Add Your First Link
Let’s save a link:
- Paste a URL in the Quick Add box at the top of the dashboard
- Click “Add Quick” — LinkAce fetches the page title and description automatically
- View your link — It now appears in “Recent Links”
Want more control? Click Links in the sidebar, then Add Link. The full form lets you:
- Set visibility (private, internal, or public)
- Assign lists and tags
- Add notes
- Customize the title and description
Organize with Lists and Tags
Lists group links by broad categories. Examples: “Web Development Tools”, “Recipes”, “Research Papers”
Tags add flexible cross-cutting labels. Examples: “tutorial”, “open-source”, “urgent”
To create a list or tag:
- Click Lists or Tags in the sidebar
- Click Add List or Add Tag
- Choose visibility (private, internal, or public)
When adding links, assign them to existing lists and tags — or create new ones on the fly.
Understanding Visibility
Each link, list, and tag has a visibility setting:
- Private — Only you can see it
- Internal — All logged-in users can see it
- Public — Anyone with access to your LinkAce can see it (including guests if Guest Mode is enabled in settings)
Use visibility to share curated collections with teammates or keep personal research private.
